I get excited each year about back to school sales. Its been a long time since I was a student or since I had to do school shopping for kids, but each year I still love to see the deals that are offered and I try to cash in on some serious savings ! Being in the Arctic doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the savings, there are some great deals available online.
If you have Instagram or Facebook, you’ve probably seen some of your friends posting pictures of their victory or defeat in an escape room. You may have heard lots of talk about them….but have you had the chance to try one out? We wanted to see what all the fuss was about, so on our recent family vacation we had our first Escape Room experience.
What is an Escape Room?
Frugal northern living does not involve just being frugal when at home. Spending wisely and making your dollar stretch is just as important when traveling south as it is when living in the north.
For many “ southerners” who have moved north, your vacation time may be the time you feel you need to catch up on all the conveniences and luxuries you have gone without by living in the north. Most people have something they are anxiously waiting to do as soon as they land down south.
There’s a lot of buzz today about Amazon Prime Day around town and, well, all over the internet. 😉 Everyone loves a good deal and the annual event that Amazon holds sports some pretty deep savings on many items. For example, check out this hot product at 44% off! I’ve been wanting one for a year and finally got it today with a deal too good to pass up. I’m pretty sure it’s going to become one of my “can’t live without”
I’m a confessed tea addict. I drink 1-2 pots of tea a day (or more). I’ve never had a cup of coffee in my life (GASP!) Tea has been something I started drinking as a kid and never stopped. If you’ve ever had a twinge of conscience as you throw your cans into the garbage (knowing it’s just adding to the landfill) then you might be interested in knowing the details of an eco-friendly initiative the students of Inuksuk High School have been successfully implementing!
As local residents of Iqaluit, you and I have a great opportunity to jump in and make a difference as well!
We were please to have the chance to chat with April Tucker,
During a recent summer vacation, we stopped in at a pawn shop to look for “treasures”. We noticed several iPhones in good condition behind the counter, and we inquired about them. They were a great deal and had I been alone in the store, I would’ve probably bought one. However, I had someone with me who knows technology and everything “Apple”. After looking at the phone and doing a little inquiry, it was revealed that whomever had sold the phone to the shop,
One of my new Healthy Habits is my weekly Sunday ritual of making healthy muffins for the week. Having a healthy alternative available prevents me from grabbing a sugar filled treat to satisfy my snacking desire. If you’ve been following me here or on Instagram, you probably know how much I hate to be in the kitchen… so I try to make only quick and easy recipes that get me in and out as quickly as possible.
If you have been following me on Instagram you know that I have been doing a “No Spend September”. I have read about “No Spend” challenges for years but have never actually tackled it myself. To be honest, I thought that I would fail. I thought that I would either lack the self control, the planning, or even the remembering what I’m doing part! My mind can be a lot more forgetful than I like to admit,
